    About the Director

    Don Anderson

Don is no stranger to Hudson’s beautiful theatre, having performed here many times over the last 20 years. Village Theatre shows you may have seen him in: Ethan Claymore, The Love List, Chapter  Two, Celebrity, Skin Flick, and various pantos and fundraising events. Don has also performed at the Centaur including in Relative Good, by David Gow and at the Segal

Centre in Ibsen’s Enemy of the People, as well as in several Gravy Bath Productions shows, including The Picture of Dorian Gray, This Table, Coriolanus, Kali Yuga and as Oscar Wilde in De Profundis, based on Wilde’s infamous prison letter, for which he won The Montreal Critic’s Circle Award (MECCA) for best actor. Fun Fact: The last three were directed by none other than Matthew Tiffin, HVT’s current AD. Don has also performed in various TV shows and films, and has even done some voice work.  He prefers voice acting as “… it doesn’t require pants. Don’t you judge me, Simon!”

Don is thrilled to be back directing once again for the Players Club. Some may remember his directorial debut; the seductive and sumptuous Greek comedy, Lysistrata in 2014. He agreed to direct again, but “… only if there are less than 20 characters and written sometime since the birth of Christ.” He loves all his actors, but in a non-creepy way, and wishes to thank them, the designers, builders, volunteers, assistants and especially Steve & Shelley Walters for their amazing support, and is profoundly grateful for the inspirational support of Mary and Marc, Tony and Angie and the town of Hudson!

    ‘Whose Wives are they Anyway’

David McGachen and John Baker have planned a weekend off before their new C.E.O. arrives on Monday. With their wives safely off on a shopping spree in New York City, they check into The Oakfield Golf and Country Club intending to “golf their brains out.” They unexpectedly encounter their new boss, D.L. Hutchinson, who insists on meeting the wives, commenting blithely “no one who went golfing for a weekend without his wife would ever work for me.” So … David and John have to produce wives. Inevitably, everything goes wrong as John and David attempt to “pull the wool” over the new boss’ eyes!

Some comments from other productions… and we think this will be even funnier.

‘I have been attending live theatre for more than 40 years. Tonight’s show was by far the most entertaining acting that I have ever seen. We laughed until we had tears in our eyes.’
    — J & M Ottawa

‘Has everything an audience could ever want in a good time at the theatre. A laugh a minute; fabulous performances; ridiculous sight gags; a woman in her underwear and a man in drag.’ –- Seaway News

‘Fast paced and howlingly funny. Misconceptions and mixed up identities abound. The audience is as hysterical as the characters. Just sit back, take it all in, and get ready to laugh loudly, long and often.’ — Morrisburg Leader
